Obituary of Martin Ernest Forsberg

Martin, born on October 27th, 1944, passed away on June 16th 2023 due to 9/11 related cancer illness. He was a devoted Army veteran, an esteemed former volunteer firefighter and Ex-Captain with the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department with 50 years of service, and a proud family man.
After serving in the Army, Martin pursued a career in the motion picture industry. But he never forgot his commitment to public service, which led him to join the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department. Martin's dedication to the department was unparalleled, and he served the community with distinction for half a century.
Martin's contribution to the recovery efforts following the tragic events of 9/11 was particularly noteworthy. He spent time at Ground Zero coordinating and maintaining donated generators used to power rescue equipment. Martin's selfless service in the face of such a devastating event was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his community and his fellow citizens.
Martin is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Margaret (Mickey), his children Christopher (Sue) and Timothy (Christina), and his grandchildren Faith, Christopher, and Matthew. Martin also leaves behind his twin brother Cal.
Martin's passing is a great loss to his family, friends, and community. He will be remembered as a dedicated public servant who always put others first, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a true American hero. His legacy of service and commitment will continue to inspire future generations.
