Obituary of Althea M. Lauro
Althea Lauro, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 11, 2023.
Althea's unwavering love for her family, friends, and The NY Giants was evident in every aspect of her life. She dedicated countless weekends to dance and gymnastic competitions, where she proudly watched her grandchildren. She made many trips to Disney World because nothing made her smile more than seeing her family enjoy the happiest place on earth – except maybe Christmas. Althea lived a life full of joy and remained steadfast in her faith. She passionately cheered on the NY Giants every season (with a Manhattan in hand, of course) never giving up on her boys.
Althea’s dedication expanded beyond family, as she spent 35 fulfilling years working at St. Francis Hospital. Her radiant kindness left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path, including the security guards who greeted her by name every day. Althea's laughter, affection, and humor created a bond that will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life.
Althea was predeceased by her beloved husband, Norman, her brother Gene (Weschler), and her daughter, Victoria “Vicki” (Brewster). She is survived by her loving children: Kathy (Hall) and Steve, daughter-in law Diane, sons-in-law Frank (Hall) and George (Brewster). Althea's legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: Frank “Bill” (Hall), Christine (Benkoski), Jeanette (Hall), Jason, Ashley, Darren, Chelsea (Cornachio), Hallie (Multer), Travis (Kaller), Justin (Kaller), Kristi (Pavelka), and Melanie. She was also blessed with wonderful grandsons-in-law: Jason (Benkoski), Eric (Multer), Matt (Cornachio), and Jonathan (Pavelka). Granddaughters-in-law, Cristina (Hall) and Thelia, and her nine precious great-grandchildren: Brent (Benkoski), James (Cornachio), Kira, Gracelyn (Hall), Althea (Benkoski), Kali, Gavin (Hall), Cameron (Cornachio), and Hudson (Multer).
As Althea joins her beloved Norman and daughter Vicki in a heavenly reunion, her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all those she touched. "Grammy" may be physically gone, but her love and spirit will forever remain a cherished part of her family's lives.
Althea will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity, bingo skills, and strength.
Rest in peace, dear Althea, knowing that you are eternally embraced by the love you gave so freely.
