Andrew was my wonderful cousin who cared for me along with Dolly as a young child. As I grew to know him I loved him for his laugh and wonderful sense of humor. He was such a talented artist and inspired me with his great work. I still have a painting of his given to me by Aunt Alice. He painted it when he was 14 yrs old and as I understood ; he won an Award for it.
I have nothing but great memories of anytime I ever spent with him. I have since done some painting which I shared with him several occasions. He was loved by my Mother , and Father and brothers and Win speaks of him often with heartfelt sympathy.
Thank you , Andrew , for all you gave to me. I will pray for you and always remember your beautiful blue eyes.
love,
Susan

As the second youngest of the "Dirty Dozen" weekend football games in CT, Andrew always had a special play for just me; the button hook, or "Matty you go long" . The clambakes, beach forts, wiffleball, football weekends with him made my younger years so special. I will miss him. RIP

Andrew and the Burkard family joined up with our motley crew to form the Dirty Dozen, venturing each summer for destinations along the east coast. From towing pop-up campers to touring islands by houseboat, he was always game for something new. I still remember his laugh...usually shaking his head, laughing in disbelief at the antics...well, scraps between me and my brothers. My other fond memory is how he always had tea while the rest of the parents had coffee...I always thought how cool it was that he could be different and so admired. Looking back those were great days. We will miss him a lot.

It's May 1951, Andrew is in the front seat of my fathers 1948 convertible Olds. In the back are friends Ed Ilch and Ronnie Quinn on our way across Hillside Ave to a movie and a pizza. I was finishing my second year at Adelphi college and signed up to join the Air Force as an aviation cadet. I was being ragged on for joining up and the back seat guys said I would probably wash out and be stuck for 4 years. I was worried about that but Andrew said , "He'll make it". I never forgot that moment... and I did.
