Obituary of Virginia McNamara

Virginia B. McNamara “Ginny”, a long-time resident of Manhasset and now Port Washington, passed away peacefully on November 4th, 2023.
Born in 1946 in Huntington, NY (née Brush), she attended Northwestern University and enjoyed a successful teaching career early on in her post-studies life. Later, she dedicated herself to raising her family along with her late husband, Robert “Bob” McNamara. Ginny and Bob were married for 49 years before his passing in 2020. A prolific reader and life-long learner (in addition to being a 3-time cancer survivor), she stayed fully engaged throughout her ‘retirement’ years making plans to travel the world, attending higher learning courses, helping charitable causes, doting on her dogs, staying in close touch with many friends and of course spending time with her family and loved ones.
She is survived by her brother Ted Brush & wife Ginny (Charleston, SC) as well as her three children-- Tim McNamara & wife Amiel (Port Washington, NY), Susan McNamara (Port Washington, NY) and Keith McNamara (Golden, CO) as well as her Granddaughter Althea McNamara.
A celebration of Ginny's life will be held at a later date.
