Obituary of Ernesto E. Sibilla,Jr.

Please share a memory of Ernesto to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ernesto "Nesto" Sibilla Jr. died unexpectedly on December 4, 2023 at the age of 61. Nesto was a beloved father, brother, uncle, husband, colleague and friend whose joyful positivity, deeply caring nature, sense of fun, love of music and inner calm touched all of those around him. Nesto was born in New York City in 1962 to Ernesto and Julia Sibilla, who were recent immigrants from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Nesto was immediately welcomed with love by his parents and his older sister, Monica. His father owned a travel business that Nesto was involved in as a young man. This fostered in him a love of travel, which he particularly enjoyed with his family over the years. Although Nesto grew up primarily on Long Island, he maintained a deep love of Argentine culture, soccer (he was a huge Messi fan), and briefly lived in Buenos Aires.

A lifelong car aficionado, Nesto worked as a sales consultant for Mercedes, BMW and Volkswagen before landing his dream job at the Mercedes-Benz flagship dealership in Manhattan in 2018. He met and married his wife Pailin Winotaka in 2006. They soon welcomed two children whom Nesto adored. Teenagers Alessia and Chris feel that he was the "best dad." Beyond his work, Nesto had many passions, including playing guitar, listening to music of all types, travel, sports, meditation and movies, especially Bond films. He was a deeply grounded person who made all of those around him feel loved and cared for.  Though we carry him in our hearts, he will be forever missed.

Nesto is survived by his son Christopher, his daughter Alessia, his wife Pailin, his sister Monica, his nephew Andrew and his niece Alexandra.
A funeral service for Nesto will be held on Sunday, December 17th. A larger celebration of Nesto's life will be held in the New York area at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the   American Heart Association
