Obituary of Donald Macina
Donald Macina, born on May 24, 1923, passed away on January 15, 2024, at the age of 100 leaving behind a rich legacy of love, honor and family. Don was the loving son of Vito and Mary. He was predeceased by his younger brother Francis. He was a graduate of Flushing High School and served briefly in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon returning home from his military service, he spent the next 40 years working for Young & Rubicam as a successful Executive. Although he was raised in Flushing New York, he spent most of his life in Port Washington, New York and Cocoa Beach, Florida.
He married Barbara Crane on May 26, 1951, and together they raised four wonderful children and two schnauzers. Don liked nothing more than spending time with his family, analyzing the stock market, and following the Yankees and Giants. Unfortunately, Barbara passed away prematurely in 1992.
He is survived by his loving family, which includes his wife, Patricia Berry Kilfoil Macina, and his four children Donald J. Macina Jr. (Dana), Robert Macina (Linda), Mary Ellen O’Brien (Joseph) and Thomas Macina (Leslie). He leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday January 22, 2024, 9:00AM at Fairchild Sons Funeral Chapel, 1570 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, NY. A Funeral Mass will take place Monday 11:15AM at St Peter’s of Alcantara Church at 1327 Port Washington Blvd., Port Washington, NY. Interment will be at The Cemetery of the Holy Rood, 111 Old Country Rd, Westbury, NY.
