It is with profound sadness that we report the passing of Samira Nassar Saad on February 10, 2024.

Samira, the youngest daughter of Solomon and Farida Nassar, was born in Kumasi, Ghana. She was educated in boarding school in her home country Lebanon and started her professional life as a social worker there. It was there that she fell in love with a young physician, Maher Saad. After a whirlwind romance, they were married and emigrated to the U.S. They took residence in a small apartment in Whitestone before moving to their home in Brookville, where they would spend most of their lives.

Despite her petite stature, Samira was a force to be reckoned with. She was proud and dignified, yet charming and welcoming. Ahead of her time, she opened one of the first urgent care centers in New York. She taught Arabic at a local university and was active in philanthropy. She loved golf, and cards, and played both to win. She traveled extensively and loved to entertain new friends with stories of her adventures. She raised two children, each with a strong sense of purpose, but her grandchildren were the center of her universe. 

In her later years, with her health in decline, Samira and Mayer moved to Palm Beach, Florida, where she continued to be active in the community. She died peacefully after a long illness.

She is survived by her devoted husband Mayer, her son Andre and his wife Bettina, their four children Layla, Serena, Cecilia, and Blaise, her lifelong companion Lydia, and a loving extended family dispersed worldwide. She was predeceased by her daughter Christine, who left us tragically too young.

Funeral Mass: Thursday , 10am, St. Paul the Apostle Church, Brookville
