Jake was the best. A absloute gentleman. I always enjoyed seeing him at St. Marys games throughout the years. A devoted disiple of Timmy Cluess, he and his hardwood partner, Al Burke enjoying heavenly hoops. He was so knowledgable..he was scouting Lebron as a 5th grader! Mostly he was such a kind and humble presence, so easy to be with. Loved him. All the Blakes are in my prayers as we morn and celebrate a great life. God Bless

As Jake's brother reading these comments reminded me of being on the LIRR train with him. Occasionally when in NYC for business, I would stay in Manhasset and take the train into the city. He would buy each morning three papers at the Plandome station- the Times, the WSJ and the Post. I noticed that he would read the news summary column on the front page of the WSJ. Then he would read the sports pages to know the scores of the previous days major games. It took me a while to realize he did this to know the "news" they would be discussing on the floor of the NYSE. That was the way to start friendly chatter every day and get deal flows. It apparently worked. He also would send me occasionally the daily trivia that a floor member would prepare. I still recall the one that asked for what events in this person's life caused the exchange to be closed. Many quessed FDR, Ike, JFK etc. But the winner was King Edward VII. Yes Edward VII- his coronation in 1902, the day of his death May 6, 1910 and his funeral on May 20, 1910.
Indeed he was a gentleman in every way. Our father was in the clothing business for 60 years. Jake always had a handsome wardrobe, an instinct he got from him. I always regretted I was too tall to borrow from him.
But most importantly, he could always be counted on for help or advice when needed. His generosity was quiet if not often anonymous. May we meet again on the big celestial exchange someday!

Mr Blake was my patient shortly before his passing. To his wife and to all of his children that I had the honor of meeting, I am so very sorry for your loss. He had a fighting spirit and a beautiful family that made it easy for him. May he rest in peace. Sending so much love to you and yours.

I always enjoyed conversations with Uncle Jake. He was smart and witty, had a great sense of humor, and was always kind. He took an interest in me and all the cousins.
My condolences to Aunt Eileen, and to Tommy, Cathleen, Kieran, Molly, Jimmy and Timmy. Sincerely, Tom Cullen FL

What beautiful memories we have of long conversations after Mass in Immaculate Conception parking lot No matter how early the Mass, Jake had already been through the paper cover to cover and quizzed everyone , including Shannon - but reserved for her movie & tv topics

May the Good Lord be enjoying your company in Heaven above, just as all of us did here on Earth. It was great working with you on the Floor of the NYSE all those years! And of course when we ran in the NYC Marathon together, what a thrill.
My prayers and condolences to all the Blake families.

One of my favorite things to do with visiting clients in NYC was to meet up on the floor with Mr. NYSE. He knew everything about it and was endlessly entertaining. Such a privilige to know Jake, who was in such a rarified world. There were not that many floor brokers in the history of the world and he was the best.
With fond memories,
David Coiro
