Janet & Bob Marron posted a condolence

Dear family unfortunately Bob & I just learned of Rita’s passing but wish to extend our deepest condolences to all of her family! Rita had an incredible zest for life that she shared within all her interests and interactions with all the people in her life. In her late years we shared many telephone visits as I laughed each time my phone would ring “this was going to be a long one”. I personally will miss speaking to Rita! God keep her safe & care in the palms of his hands. God Bless! Bob & Janet Marron

Mrs. Rottmund was a long-time friend of my mother, Mary Byrnes. They knew each other from high school or college. As a result, Mrs. Rottmund was at so many important family celebrations. She certainly was a character. I have no doubt, my mother was there to greet her when she passed. Peace to the Rottmund family. May her memory be a blessing.

Dearest Mom,
As I struggle through my tears and extreme heartache, I want you to know how very grateful and proud I am that you were my mother. You were always a consistent source of love, support, and guidance throughout my life. You encouraged and taught me to follow my passion for art because I was good at it. When the time came for me to return to the workforce, I contacted you for advice. You were the one who saw my passion for caring for people and medicine and encouraged me to pursue a path in the medical field because you knew I would be good at that as well. Who knew that that path would become my next career? Nobody knows their child as well as a mother does. Your selflessness, strength, guidance, and wisdom made me who I am today and continue to inspire me in all aspects of life. You never failed to be the best mother and my greatest cheerleader, and you never stopped expressing how proud you were of all my achievements. I have thanked God every moment since your passing that he allowed me to be with you as you left this world, as you were with me when I entered. No words can express how much I love you and will forever miss you. ~Chrissy

Grandma was the reason I first fell in love with the beach and the smell of the Florida air. It was something we looked forward to each and every year. To escape our busy lives for a moment to head to grandmas oasis. I remember watching you sit at your table in the porch that poured in so much sunlight. That’s where you would paint your beautiful flowers and gently coax us to find those beautiful moments in nature. The same smile that greeted us at the start of each and every summer at the kitchen table in Quogue.
You taught us that there was an artist in each of us that was capable of limitless imagination. Our talent had no bounds and you reminded us constantly to feed it. Thank you for your passion and attentiveness in whatever we were pursuing. For encouraging us when we lacked the faith in knowing. I will carry forward your artistic nature and the ability to see beauty in the ordinary each and everyday. Thank you for showing us many beautiful worlds. They colored our lives.

Those who knew my grandma knew she was a strong woman. A fighter. Someone who was never afraid to let you know how she felt and what she thought. She showed the women in her family how to be strong. She was resilient, courageous, and determined. She had a strong will and a fierce spirit, which helped her overcome many challenges and also tried us all at times (insert laughs). Despite that, she taught us the value of perseverance, courage, and resilience.
But under that tough exterior, there was also a loving generous woman who cared deeply for her family. A woman who would go to the ends of the earth to support her daughters and grandkids. Who never stopped telling her loved ones how much she adored them. A woman who shared her love of art and taught us to see beauty, to express ourselves creatively, and to find joy in learning new things. Who celebrated our achievements and joys, no matter how big or small. Who was always there to listen, to provide, to advise, and to cheer us on. A woman who always saw and reminded me of my caring heart and soul.
She was proud of us, and we were proud of her. And we hope to continue to make her proud.
Thank you, grandma, for everything. For your lessons. For sharing your passion for art. For your wisdom. For your support. For your strength. And most of all for your love. We will miss you, we love you, and we will never forget you. Rest in peace, until we meet again.
