Obituary of Jeffrey Benjamin Nevins

Please share a memory of Jeffrey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jeffrey Benjamin Nevins died peacefully at his family’s home in Port Washington, NY on March 2, 2024.

Jeff was born in New York City on August 25, 1983 and spent his childhood there before moving to Rye for middle school, and then to Port Washington where he graduated from Schreiber High School with the Class of 2001. Jeff went on to Cornell University, obtaining a B.A. in Information Sciences in 2006.

When Jeff was a young boy and saw his first computer, he knew that technology was his destiny. He started his career in high school, working for a local IT company. From there he went on to architect complex solutions and build and lead technology organizations. Hardworking and relentless, with the ability to find solutions to seemingly impossible problems, Jeff was a master of his craft. In 2020 he started his own company, Simeon Cloud, with his little brother and his best friend. The three business partners moved out to California to live and work together. Simeon was a success. In September 2023 they sold the business. Jeff continued on at the merged company as Chief Technology Officer, innovating to change the industry with the next version of the software, which he worked on until the very end.

Outside of work, Jeff loved Block Island, good food, biking, skiing, traveling, and spending time with his family and his beloved cat Luke. Jeff’s startup enabled him to live a lifestyle he had always idealized – spending winters out west on the mountain and summers on Block Island, eking out an hour or two each day to pursue activities other than work (always while working at the same time!).

Jeff was a dedicated and loving brother, son, nephew, cousin, friend, and colleague. He is survived by his father Fred and stepmother Nancy, his mother Patricia and stepfather Bob, his sister Carolyn and brother David, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Contributions in Jeff’s memory may be made to the Block Island Conservancy
