Obituary of Maria Livadas
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Livadas on Thursday, April 4th, 2024. Yiayia is now reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband, Nicholas P. Livadas III and her cherished parents, George and Terpsihori Michalitianos. Survived by her daughter, Semiramis Livadas-Geiger and son-in-law, Geoffrey Geiger, grandchildren John (wife Joanna) Kushay, Marianna Geiger and Nicoletta Geiger, brother Michael (Valentina) Michalitianos, many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the US and Greece, and of course her best friend and closest companion, Maria Adikimenakis.
Maria was born in Athens, Greece on April 19, 1933. In 1964 at the young age of 31 she came to the United States with her husband and their daughter, Semiramis. They both worked very hard to create a happy and loving home for their family, and fulfilling their pursuit towards living the American dream.
Maria was the strongest, most caring, encouraging and loving Mother, sister, Yiayia, cousin, aunt and loyal friend to all that knew her. We will always cherish the precious moments we shared with her, and will be forever grateful for her proud, strong spirit.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 7th, from 4pm-7pm at Fairchild Sons Funeral Chapel (1570 Northern Blvd, Manhasset, NY 11030) with Funeral Service to follow at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Paul (110 Cathedral Ave, Hempstead, NY 11550) on Monday, April 8th at 1pm. Interment will follow at Nassau Knolls Cemetery (500 Port Washington Blvd, Port Washington, NY 11050), where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
