Obituary of SHEILA KATHARINE ROONEY

    Born on August 19, 1931, to the late James E. and Katharine Lynch Rooney, Sheila was raised in Manhasset, NY. A devoted sister and sister-in-law of the late Noreen Rooney Sheridan and James C. Sheridan, Jr., Sheila was a proud alumna of Marywood University. She spent her professional career as an elementary school teacher in the Syosset, NY School District.  
     Retirement found her regularly subbing as a teacher in Port Washington Schools, following several months perfecting her French in France.  
     Sheila adored the many dogs who owned her heart and lavished love on her surviving nieces and nephew: Cara Sheridan O’Donnell, Susan Sheridan Timko (Michael), Maura Sheridan Connolly (Terrence), Maryla Sheridan Blum, James C. Sheridan III (Diane), and Honore Sheridan Hoy (the late Paul); 17 grandnieces and grandnephews, and on her 10 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
     Sheila’s devout Catholic faith enriched her daily and sustained her during the last months of her enviably long life. She will be keenly missed by all who knew and loved her.
