Obituary of Ada Vidas

Please share a memory of Ada to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ada Vidas, 93, wife to Mario, beloved mother to her three children, grandmother of five, great-grandmother of four, sister to six siblings, and mother-in-law, passed away on May 8, 2024. Ada was a devoted wife to Mario for 70 years. Born in the former Yugoslavia, she embodied the spirit of perseverance from a young age. At the age of 17, Ada made the bold decision to leave behind everything she knew in pursuit of freedom and opportunity in the United States. In the face of immense adversity, she embraced change with an open heart and an indomitable spirit, leaving behind the confines of communist rule to forge a new life for herself and her family. She and Mario made their home in Brooklyn, and later moved to Great Neck in 1984, and more recently to The Bristal at Lake Success.

A quintessential grandmother, known as “Noni” by her grandchildren and great grandkids, she would play with the kids, running and rolling on the floor with them, even into her 90’s.  An utterly wonderful woman, best known for the abundance of love she gave her adoring family, her selflessness and her much-loved cooking. Ada was a talented seamstress, and her skilled hands wove threads of love and creativity into every garment she touched, and every person she made feel good with her craft.

Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know, and get a hug and kiss from her. Her legacy will continue to inspire us for generations to come.

Ada will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for any donations to be made to the Long Island Alzheimer's and Dementia Center at, lidementia.org
