Ralph was our friend, confidant, commissioner of our 50 year basketball group and a helluva player. Our hoop group (say that three times fast) formed a wonderfully close knit "family" that has seen the ups and downs of life thru the years, all led by the inimitable Ralph.
His positive impact and always good advice to each of us has created memories and stories that will last forever.
Great player, terrific coach and better man.
Our hoop group will miss him, remember him fondly and he is in the soul of all of us.
He was the heart of our group and we love him forever.
Ralph's basketball brothers.

We began playing together, all of us in our late 70’s. It was a beautiful rebirth for us all. It was Ralph’s idea to start a band and I will be forever grateful to him for that. RIP Ralph

Jim and I came to know Ralph through John and Carrie (his son and our daughter), as we met him just before their wedding. His zest for life and love of music were pervasive, and transmitted directly to everyone in his family. In fact, Ralph played his harmonica (while Jim played guitar) for many, many hours at the picnic they held just before their wedding. Two days ago, John played for us a recording of what he believes may have been one of his dad’s last jam sessions with his band. The sound of Ralph and his harmonica is beautiful and haunting, as he played “Bobby McGee” one last time. Ralph touched so many lives. His legacy is to be treasured.

Ralph was as sincere and genuine as any man I've ever met. He was a great "counselor " to all the young up and coming Sales Managers at Smucker and, for me personally, he was a great mentor. It's true, he was so very proud of his family and he loved to share all the amazing things they accomplished. He was, very simply, a good human being and he will be missed.

Ralph , Barbara and I shared 4th grade. Ralph and Barbara had hidden contests .. finishing first and looking to the other to see if they won first . Their contests lasted all year in that one room school house . (Yes , I know it had a class downstairs too)
Ralph and I were best friends throughout high school and until now .
We played baseball , some basketball throughout high school . He was the ultimate athlete and I was big. We co captain the baseball team and had many exciting walks to the bus after the game. Many were very exciting. But we supported each other through out the various “discussions “ with the opposing teams . I remember Ralph had been “displaced” from his home and my parents welcomed him to live with us. And he did . We both learned a lot from my parents in those days . He told me he learned love from my mom and discipline from my dad . I learned too .
We figured out stuff together . We got some stuff wrong too.
We both married . We brought our kids together . We got lucky to have great kids. Our wives made the difference.
We played together even as adults. We kept learning . Ralph was an exceptional man and my best friend .
Goodbye , after over 70 years .
