During the summer of 1973, a small town boy from Oklahoma had the pleasure of spending time with Mrs. Plominski. as a guest in her home. She treated me as an honored guest from the moment she met me. I believe that if you are lucky, you may have 10 people in your life that truly impact you in a positive manner. Mrs. Plominski is one of my 10, and close to the top. She allowed me to experience a larger view of the world beyond the plains of Oklahoma. She talked to me and was interested in what I had to say. I remember that my teenager attempt at humor during dinner one evening resulted in a cold glass of milk being poured over my head at the dinner table and I was labeled as a "fresh kid". Everyone looked at me like they knew it was coming and well deserved. She did not appear to me as one who would waste a glass of milk without a good reason. I adjusted my behavior since I preferred drinking my milk instead of wearing it. As I was preparing for my flight back to Oklahoma she came up to me gave me a hug and made some crossing movements across my chest. Being a Southern Baptist, I had no idea that I had just received an honor from a very religious lady. It was explained to me by her daughter Regina. I carried that blessing with me my entire life and it remains with me today. My deepest sympathies to the entire Plominski family. I will always remember your mother.
