Dear Professor Ho:
I am saddened to learn about the passing away of your wife, Mrs. Ann-Dia Hsu Ho. I had the opportunity to meet her only once during your wedding reception at Uncle Tang's in the mid-1980's. The image I have of her from that meeting is one of a young, vibrant, beautiful bride on a very special day of her life!
Over the years, I have learned from you about your life together, births and growing up of your sons, and her valiant fight with cancer. The calamity of her passing away thus was not entirely unexpected, since she was fighting this mortal disease for a long time. Still there is a world of difference between the certainty of a future calamity and the actual experience of the shock itself.The loss of dear ones is one of the most painful bereavements that we all have to suffer on earth. No word of condolence, no philosophy can ease that pain, and I will not make any such fruitless effort. I will trust the healing effect of time, and commend you and your sons to the mercy of God for giving you the strength to bear this misfortune.
Her suffering is now over. May she rest in peace, and live in the memories of her family and friends!
