Harry Edwin Pierson, 94, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014, at his home in Manhasset, New York. He was born September 23, 1919, in Philadelphia, to Harry and Mildred Pierson and raised in Allentown, PA. He attended Temple University, where he met his wife, graduating in 1941 prior to entering the United States Army. During World War II, he served as a field artillery officer in the Pacific theatre earning a Bronze Star for his actions in the Philippines. After his discharge from the army, he attended New York University Law School. Graduating in 1949, he had a successful career focusing on commercial real estate, working as an attorney for New York Life Insurance Company, and as an executive of Pacific Coast Properties, W.T. Grant, and W.R. Grace & Co. He is survived by his adoring family including his wife of 70 years, Mae Florence (Lange) Pierson; daughters Ellen Marlin and Elizabeth Casalino; son-in-law James Casalino; grandson Timothy Marlin and his wife Sara; and nephew James Pelzer and his wife Ellen. Funeral services will be at 10 AM on Tuesday February 25th at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Manhasset, New York. His wit, wisdom, and loving heart will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be be made in Harry’s honor to Hospice Care Network (www.hospicecarenetwork.org/donations) who provided wonderful comfort in his final days.”
