Obituary of Daniel Healy

Daniel Healy of Port Washington, NY passed peacefully on November 27, 2014 Born February 12, 1915 in Boherbue, County Cork, Ireland, pre-deceased by his loving wife Vera Healy, Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan, and survived by four devoted children and their spouses Daniel (Gerry), Kevin, Maureen (Arthur), Kerry O’Callaghan (Patrick), as well as one adoring granddaughter, Melissa Nylic (Bill). After a rural upbringing in Ireland, Dan met Vera Fay in London during World WarII and together they embarked on a journey to achieve the American Dream. Dan and Vera emigrated to New York in 1949 where they remained until their retirement, during which they spent increasing time in Marco Island, FL where they kept up their golf game and enhanced the devoted circle of friends with which they surrounded themselves. Dan’s attainment of his dreams could be measured by the NYC Taxi business he built from the ground up, by his winning golf game and membership in two country clubs (Plandome CC, Island CC), and by his comfortable (albeit reluctant) retirement, during which he cultivated his home repair skills working on his children’s leaks and squeaks. However, Dan would more likely take pleasure in the accomplishment of successfully nurturing a loving, close-knit family to carry on his legacy. Viewing will be at Fairchild Sons, 1570 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, NY, Friday 3-5 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s RC Church, Manhasset, NY, Saturday 11/29 at 10 AM, followed by interment at Nassau Knolls Cemetery, Port Washington, NY.
