Jaclyn (“Jackie”) McBride, 64, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones at her home in Medford, New York on Monday, August 26, 2013.
Jackie was born to Joan Curran and the late John J. (“Jack”) Lysaght on December 20, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY. An exceptional student, she graduated from St. Brendan’s Diocesan High School and attended Marymount Manhattan College on a full academic scholarship. She received her Master’s Degree and went on to work at Stony Brook University Hospital for over thirty years, first as an orthopedic nurse and later as an Instructor of Clinical Education.
Jackie was a devoted mother and grandmother, and is survived by her two sons, James (“Jim”) McBride, his wife Leslie, and their sons, Sean and Eric, and Kevin McBride and his children, Mikayla and Jack. A loving daughter and sister, she is survived by her mother, Joan
Lysaght, and her six siblings: Joan Mattison, Susan Lysaght, Thomas Lysaght, Carole
Lysaght-Moodhe, John J. Lysaght, Jr., and Judy Lysaght-Marikos.
Cherished by her family for her kindness, sense of humor, loyalty, and steadfast love, Jackie’s home was a frequent gathering place for her extended family and friends.
Jackie hosted countless Christmas holidays, always creating an atmosphere of joy and celebration. Jackie was always a source of comfort, love, and laughter for everyone she knew. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her selflessness, always putting those she knew above herself.
