Obituary of Edward Shorin

SHORIN–Edward, age 86, died 8/19/2013 at his home in Manhasset, NY. Beloved husband of the late Genevieve with whom he shared much love, life and laughter for 56 years. Devoted father of Richard (Andrea) and James (Michelle); loving grandfather of six grandchildren. He graduated from Bucknell University, served in the U.S. Navy, and was an executive of Topps Chewing Gum. A trustee of Long Island University, Mr. Shorin received an honorary doctorate degree from the university in 1999. His second career at LIU brought him much enjoyment, intellectual stimulation and treasured friendships. He died as he lived to the last moment – with wisdom, humor, compassion and grace. Memorial Service Monday, August 26th, 10 am at Hillwood Commons, C.W. Post campus, LIU. Interment at NassauKnollsCemetery. Family and friends may visit to celebrate his life at his residence on Monday and Tuesday, 6-9 pm. Contributions in his memory may be made to Edward and Genevieve Shorin Scholarship Fund at LIU.
