Dear Mrs Choi and boys,
It is with the utmost sadness that I tell you I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Chris for a very short time of his life, working with him in the OR with Dr Durban. He was, as your family was, truly blessed. He was loving, smart, personable, and just adorable.
I have worked in this profession as a PA for 35 years. I have seen people go when they should not have and people live on when it seemed inconceivable. Your husband was taken at a very young age. Why?? I am sure you ask yourself everyday. Just know that God does have a plan. Trust in him and you and your family will be ok.
Chris brought much love, kindness and happiness into this world. I cannot think of a better reason for being part of humanity.
I will pray for you and your boys that his love will forever be a part of your existence. My condolences Linda Bastian

The time that you spend with a friend is never lost for it forever lives on in you.
I sit around and wonder,
and watch the days go by.
I look at all the pictures,
and ask, why did you have to die?
You've always been there for us,
because you were our dear friend,
and we were always there for you
until the very end.
But now it's time to let you go,
your spirit now is free.
Even though you won't really be gone,
because you'll live inside of me.
So when we have to leave you
at your resting place,
I will always remember
your smiling, beautiful face.
This is hardly a goodbye Chris,
so I won't weep anymore,
because now you're in better place
then you ever were before.
Even though that we will miss you,
and we'll think about you everyday
you'll always be our dear friend,
and that's all I have to say.

My husband and I met you at a St F party way back when and we enjoyed your company, we had alot of laughs that night, and Chris and I talked about it several times at work.
There are no words I can say to you that will help ease the pain you must be feeling at this time.
I always enjoyed working with Chris, when you had a day with him in the o.r you knew you were going to have a wonderful day. Besides being a competent excellent anesthesia doc, he was a kind person, easy to work with, wonderful sense of humor and great smile. I keep seeing him in my mind smiling, and I know i will keep so many fond memories of him
I loved when he talked about the family, he was always so happy and his face lit up.
I am remembering all the good things about Chris that we all loved, and I hope one day all the wonderful memories of him will help you through this time and the times ahead of you.
I know I can speak for everyone at St F if there is anything we can do for you, now, in the near future or in the far away future, you should know that Chris' St Francis family will be there for you, just reach out to us
I will pray for you, the boys, chris's family and all his friends and colleagues, and you will be forever in my thoughts
In deepest sympathy and prayers
Mary and Chris Carroll

When you walked this earth, you left footprints, touching many lives. Now you walk amongst us as an angel. It seems that God had other plans for you. I will never forget your funny stories about life & your kids. Also the many tips you gave me when you ran the NYC marathon. Btw, I will be running my first NYC marathon this year in your honor & my cousin. 2 beautiful young souls taken too soon. I would have to say my favorite funny story is when you guys came to my house to play poker & of course it would only happen to you..."Of all the fancy & nice cars in your driveway, they had to break into MINE, for my GPS." You always had that light about you! Always smiling & always funny! Keep watching over us from up there. We will truly miss you! -PattyRoe

I regret not keeping in touch with Chris throughout the years. I remember him as a compassionate, studious, and brilliant colleague. It has been many years since we walked the grounds of NYMC and studied together and it shocks and saddens me to hear this tragic news. On behalf of many of his NYMC colleagues near and far, my condolences to his family.

To my dear friend Judy, her beloved sister-in-law Hye, Chris' children and parents:
This is the kind of unbearable moment that one never thinks of, and should not have to. Your loss is inconceivable and your grief must be as well. I am so terribly sorry I am not able to be there with you today to hold you and mourn with you.
I remember Chris as an incredibly sweet and smiling young man. I have not known him in the past few years, but know from these notes that he has built a strong connection with his colleagues, and also am certain that he was a warm, fun and loving father and husband.
I am thinking of you all at this time - and feel your grief within my aching heart.
Sending you much love and peace and prayers,
Angie

My heart breaks for your children and your whole family. Chris was a very special person who I will miss forever. There are few people who can put an instant smile on my face. He was a bright light in my day, a bright light for anyone whose path he crossed. He was taken too soon and I feel so fortunate to have known him. All my thoughts and prayers are with his lovely family.

Choi Family,
Chris was a special person and I fell blessed to have known him. Chris filled the OR with many great memories! Music ( choi pod), laughter, one liners, and a light hearted easy going approach to everyday. The competent, kind, gentle, compassionate fashion he handled his patients made it easy to see why his patients instantly loved him. But the caring, genuine, fun loving, real way he listened to his colleagues and friends made it clear why he became an instant favorite by everyone at St Francis. Chris Choi was one of a kind! He will be forever missed but never forgotten!
It is with deepest sympathy and sorrow that I say goodbye to Chris Choi. He touched the lives of many people! Thank you for sharing him! My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family during this difficult time!
