Obituary of Vera Healy

Vera (Alice) Healy on December 4, 2012 of Manhasset and Pt. Washington, New York and Marco Island, Fl. Vera was born Alice Veronica Fay August 21, 1923 on a rural farm in Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan Ireland. She was the youngest of five sisters and two brothers. Like so many Irish of the time, she moved as a young adult to London, where she lived with her sisters, and met her future husband Daniel Healy. They married in 1948, and emigrated to start a new life in the U.S. They worked full time to achieve the American Dream, and raised 4 children. In the 80′s they became “snowbirds”, living part-time in Marco Island, Florida, and spent many happy years on the golf course. She passed peacefully after a short hospital stay. She was predeceased by all her siblings, most recently her cherished sister Margaret. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Dan, by her devoted children Daniel (Gerry), Kevin, Maureen (Arthur) and Kerry (Patrick), and her pride-and-joy, her granddaughter Melissa (William).
