Karen i just learned of Johns passing by my claims department. While i never met John as we were able to convert his AXA term life policy without the need for a face to face, he was always kind and seemed attentive to his family's needs when we spoke on the phone.
Let me know if i can help in any way to put your financial affairs in order.
With deepest sympathy,

Dear John
I know my message will find its way to you. The
first time I saw you I knew you were special because
of your demeanor. When Howard and I met with you
and karen We were so happy to have your friendship.
Never once did you raise your voice at anyone and we
learned from your example. Your family was large but,
You and Karen always found time to help a neighbor,
bake a pie, go shopping for some who were ill, so many
displays of kindness.
I will always remember you in this way... patient, kind and caring.
Now you fly around us like a beautiful bird bringing happiness to
those nearest to you.
Fly on Beautiful Bird. I see you in the Sky.
IM Geller.

As Jessica and Amanda know..... I always teased about being the 3rd Ruecker sister whenever I would see them with their dad. John was one of my favorite people at Green Vale. He always had a funny "dad" joke when I would wander into the athletic offices before practice. He was so loved and will be missed dearly. Thinking of all of you!

I had the privilege of meeting and becoming one of the "boaters" with John, Karen and his family six years ago at Sailor's Haven on Fire Island.
I can say without hesitation that John was an admirable man and a loving husband, father and "poppy" who will be missed, unquestionably, by all those who came to know and love him.
He made our summer boating memories what they are today and we can take solace in the great times and laughs we shared with him.
He is in a better place now but he will always remain in our hearts.

When I think of John, so many memories are of the beach and summers. One of my earliest memories is traveling down that long strip of road to West End 2 at Jones Beach. We were in a two seater car, John driving, Karen sitting next to him and me in that cubby space. Sun shinning, laughing, hair flying.
John loved the beach, the sand and the sound of waves.
I don't know if I realized at that time he would become my brother in law and it was the beginning of so many cherished moments.
John was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and teacher to us all.
I am greatful to have him as my brother in law and will always remember him with the sun on his face.
Thank you for sharing your life with us all.

My sincerest condolences to you...
Mr. Ruecker was a tremendously fond memory of mine and my sisters time at Green Vale. He was an amazing spirit and genuinely good man. I recall one specific memory of Mr Ruecker standing and talking with a student while I was navigating my way down a set of stairs from the Middle School. Mr. Ruecker gently stepped in and grabbed my arm, helping me down the last few steps without ever interrupting his conversation with my classmate, Stewart. I have always remembered that and will always try to carry that spirit of kindness and service forward on his behalf.
With love,
Melanie Leis

My deepest condolences to John's beautiful, loving family - two of whom I've had the happy pleasure of knowing and working with: Jessica and Amanda. John had a calm, easy-going pleasant nature, and I so enjoyed catching up with him in the LS hall after lunch and just chatting about "stuff." His passing leaves a giant hole in my heart and in the "heart of GreenVale School." May God see you all through this very sad time.
