Obituary of Frances Bourguet
October 26, 1924 – June 24, 2019
Frances Regina Bourguet passed on to her next life with her Lord and to be with her beloved husband, Rene, on Monday June 24.
A resident of Manhasset, NY since 1949 where she raised 8 children, she was born in Boston to Albert F. and Anna M. (Healy) Madden. Graduated from Simmons College in Boston, majoring in Journalism. There she met her husband, Rene Bourguet, at a Newman Club mixer with MIT. Late in the war she edited the MIT Radiation Laboratory newsletter while her future husband served in the US Navy.
Frances loved her family, friends, the Manhasset Community, and her Saint Mary’s Church Community.
She was a past member of the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce (1996 Woman of the year), Community Liaison Committee (a past president), a Manhasset Public Library (a long time Trustee) and was honored in 1995 as the Town of North Hempstead Woman of the Year. She was proud to have been the editor and a contributing writer to the book: Manhasset: The First Three Hundred Years.
For decades she tirelessly served the Saint Mary’s Parish Community as a lector, elementary school board member, religious education teacher, Parish Council member, historian and an adult RCIA instructor. In 2009 she was honored with the Diocese of Rockville Centre St. Agnes Medal of Service.
Frances cherished and was cherished by her family, and her many friends. She particularly enjoyed traveling with her best friend, sweetheart and husband, Rene.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Rene H. Bourguet, and her brothers Albert and Joseph. She is survived by her siblings Lillian Bertazzoni, Elizabeth Holmes, and Paul Madden, her children, Marianne (William) Loomis, Claire (Everett Logue), Janice (Gary) Weil, Robert (Margaret), Alan (Jeryl), Rosemary (Matthew Neville), Lawrence (Margaret) and Paul (Anthony Armario). She also loved and was loved by dozens of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be at Fairchild Sons Funeral Chapel, Sunday June 30, 1570 Northern Blvd., Manhasset.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday July 1 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 1300 Northern Blvd, Manhasset.
