Obituary of Bonnie Jeanette Flynn
Please share a memory of Bonnie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bonnie Flynn (nee Wilko) of Jupiter, FL and Manhasset, NY, passed peacefully at home surrounded by love on January 31, 2020 at 80 years of age. Beloved wife of the late James P. Flynn. Cherished mother of Carol (Charles), Diane, Barbara (Jim), and Jim (Stephanie). Treasured grandmother (GBO) of Kimberly (Szymon), Brian (Yingxiao), Jimmy, Mia, Maggie, Megan, and Kate, and great grandmother of Teddy and Charlotte. Dear sister of Roy and Diana. She is also survived by many loving friends and extended family.
Bonnie was born in Elmhurst, Queens on August 25, 1939 to Margaret and Albin. She attended Newtown High School, and met the love of her life, James Flynn, at the age of 16. They were married in 1959. After a brief career as an administrative assistant at Johns Manville, Bonnie dedicated her life to her family - caring for her husband and raising her four children. Her enduring and loving marriage to Jim served as a beautiful example for all who knew them.
Bonnie loved to travel, play poker, golf, read, and play scrabble. She enjoyed passing down family traditions, often cooking treasured recipes with her extended family. She was always well-organized and highly efficient, excelling at any activity she undertook. She completed the New York Times Crossword Puzzle daily, and her intelligence and quick wit were admired by her entire family.
Bonnie was a true adventurer. After losing her beloved Jim in 2010, she demonstrated her indomitable spirit, and embarked on many wonderful trips traveling the world with her loving family. From walking on a glacier at the age of 73, to Caribbean cruises and exploring Italy, Bonnie was up for any new experience life had to offer.
Above all, Bonnie will be remembered for her incredible strength and devotion to her family. She will be forever missed and loved by all who had the good fortune to know her.
