Obituary of John Sardelis

John Sardelis, 79, of Great Neck, New York, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023 from pancreatic cancer.
John was an Associate Chairperson of health administration at St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue, New York, where he also tenured as a professor teaching a myriad of courses in the health administration field. Prior to joining St. Joseph’s College, John was the President of Jason Consulting.
John was also an active member in many organizations. He was an associate of the Society of Actuaries, a member of the Academy of Actuaries, a fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and the founder of St. Joseph’s College Health Care Advisory Council and St. Joseph’s College Healthcare Center for Outreach, Research and Education.
John had a never ending thirst for knowledge and earned a Masters of Science in Statistics and Operations at New York University, Stern School of Business and a Doctorate in Public Health at Columbia University.
John also had a lifelong love of sports which included football, basketball, softball and later on in life, golf. John could often be seen carrying his golf bag and walking the course at Cherry Valley Country Club in Garden City, New York. John also enjoyed spending time with his family and watching the Mets play baseball.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years Anne, his daughter Christina Dold (Christopher Dold), his son, John Sardelis (Whitney Sardelis) and his nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Estelle James of Townsend, Massachusetts and was predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Mary Sardelis, brother Charles Sardelis and daughter Anne Sardelis.
