Obituary of Brother Henry Sawicki

Brother Henry Sawicki, member of the Marist Brothers (FMS) passed away peacefully on October 8, 2023. He was born and raised in Queens, NY and was the loving son of the late Henry and Catherine Sawicki , and beloved brother of Therese J. Winter (Robert), who predeceased him in late September.

Henry was a dedicated science teacher and department chair having taught at numerous Marist High Schools including most recently Our Lady of Lourdes in Kingston, John A. Coleman in Poughkeepsie and Marist HS In Bayonne, NJ. He was also a senior member of the waterfront staff at his beloved Camp Marist in Center Ossippee, NH where he spent his summers. Henry entered the Marist Brothers Novitiate in 1964 and subsequently graduated from Marist College and Fairfield University. He spent his entire adult life in service to the Marist Brothers.

Brother Henry leaves behind his beloved nephews: Gerard (Kim), Brian (Ann) and Thomas (Kristin) and was predeceased by his nephew John and his niece Doreen (Joseph). He is survived by ten grand-nieces and grand-nephews and three great grand-nieces.
