Obituary of Terence N. Quinn
erence Nicholas Quinn of Manhasset, NY passed away on Monday, October 9th. Terry was born and raised in Woodside, Queens. He was the loving son of Nicholas Quinn and Catherine Quinn and brother of William (Billy) Quinn and Lawrance (Larry) Quinn. And loving husband to Kathleen Quinn for 51 years.
Terry became a New York City Fire Fighter in August of 1973 and immediately fell in love with the job and his fellow fire fighters. Terry fed off of social interactions, which made him a perfect fire fighter. He needed to be engaging with other people, almost anyone, to be alive. He had a magnetic personality, making friends with everyone he spoke to or even came near. And everyone immediately loved him back. When everyone was worn out in Manhasset, he would take advantage of the curvature of the earth, sit on the front stoop with a glass of wine, and call friends and relatives, first in California and eventually, as the night wore on, in Australia. He was known and loved throughout the town of Manhasset, making friends with all the store owners and workers who looked forward to seeing him each day running his errands. He loved his wife and two sons, Adam and Nicholas (Nick), and eventually the grandkids, Tillie, Aidan, and Grace. He would do anything for them, and his large extended group of family and friends, but he eagerly wanted to help anyone that needed help.
Terry loved gardening and being outside. He was amazed by nature and the universe. He freely admitted he didn't understand everything, but enjoyed discussing virtually any topic just to interact with fellow human beings. He loved the beach, and particularly Ocean City, New Jersey, where he vacationed with friends and relatives every summer. He loved the open road and enjoyed taking the family to Vermont or Ocean City or just about anywhere.
Terry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathleen, his sons Adam Quinn of Brooklyn and Nicholas Quinn of Manhasset, and his three grandchildren, Tillie, Aidan, and Grace.
