Dean was the youngest of all of us and names like Deany and Dino are what me, his grandparents, and family called him. Growing up, the Gajdjis’ eventually had dogs as pets but as a grown up Dean loved cats. Never ventured far from home too long, knowing that a tiny animal was depending on him to be there. Some of my fondest and cherished memories were spent in Smithtown where he grew up, staying with his Dad and his Mom - my sister Irene, the boys, and FiFi. Fishing, clamming, car trips for summer vacation up North in the station wagon or Dodge Dart, attending the boys baseball games, barbecuing. His Dad Steve was a maestro of barbecuing and Dean loved to barbecue as well. Dean said that one thing he missed living in his Port Jeff condo, was that he couldn't have his own barbecue. My Christmas gift to him was going to be an electric grill, but I didn't have a chance to do that for him. Dean possessed an unwavering thoughtfulness as he always remembered my daughter's birthday or to contact me asking what she would like for Christmas. He was always prepared to say what he wanted. Nothing ever extravagant, as a matter of fact, always practical. Slippers or books were the latest gifts. He requested books related to aviation and aircraft. Never surprised me as he graduated with an aviation degree from Dowling. Dean wrote insightful articles on aircraft and either critiqued or commented and the pieces were published in magazines. Towards the end as Dean was embarking on his journey into another realm, I couldn't help but perceive the comforting presence of his dad and his grandparents - my mom and dad, there by his side. I will miss you, my little nephew. Always in my Heart ❤️.

Forever our “baby brother “, Dean was a gentle, kind, sweet soul that had a quiet grace and strength about him. Dean was a fighter and never quit anything in his life. Caring and loving Dean during this time is a memory we will always carry with us, taking comfort knowing Dean was embraced by our love of him and was aware of love’s presence. To us, Dean was our hero.
Hard to believe bro it was one short year ago that we were parasailing in the gulf ( three of us at the same time) and continuing with our great tiki hut tour.
Until we meet again, with boundless love,
your brothers Tommy, Peter and Nick

Pete and Tom, always etched in my memory will be how tenderly you took care of Dean. You stood by his side, patiently communicated with him, explaining every action you took Your unwavering love and protection was a saving grace as it enveloped Dean with comfort. Nick, we all knew Dean as a worrier, but you took care of things and gave him the peace of mind he needed. Tom, Pete, and Nick, I am truly sorry. Sending you comforting hugs and healing prayers. Aunt Cathy
