I will always remember Joan Ford with a smile on her face. Joan was always so kind to everyone especially my sister Joanna who is married to her grandson Evan. She offered my husband Tony and I to stay in her condo in Florida. I remember her saying why do they have to go and rent her house tell them to stay here. So very generous of Joan. I am so happy we got to take her out to dinner the last time we were in Florida. It was a great evening. Rest In Peace Joan!!XoXoXoXo

Grandma you will be missed. Your laugh, beauty, sense of fun and story telling is one of a kind. Your love with grandpa was visible right until the end. You loved your family fiercely and moved through life with grace. Grateful I got so many wonderful years with you. Thank you for the Easter egg hunts, sleepovers, long chats, holiday cards, visiting us out east with dad, for the many chamomile teas you made me, and so much more. You were a wonderful grandmother. God be with you until we meet again. Love you always, your granddaughter, Lauren Ford

Neil Herdan-Friends of Whitey Ford Field
It was always a great honor when Joan accepted our invitation to attend our yearly gatherings at Whitey Ford Field in Astoria with her very large and extended family! Though I knew very little about Joan, on the few occasions I met her in person, Joan came across as having the best qualities you could ever ask for in a great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, and sister. I noticed how much she enjoyed meeting new people and her appreciation for our efforts in restoring and promoting a run-down ballfield named after Whitey Ford in 2000. I wish Joan could have seen the new Whitey Ford Field when it reopened this past June. She would have been so proud!

So many of my best childhood memories included you, Mrs. Ford. Always beautiful, welcoming and kind. God bless you and keep you in the palms of his hands. I smile when I think of your welcoming committee up there. Enjoy a nice glass of wine with the group and I’m sure the meals will be organic. RIP, you will be missed but your legacy will live on in your wonderful family.

She seemed to see the best in people. Wasn’t quick to judge. Always greeted me with a big smile. Made everyone laugh & feel welcomed. Easy to talk to. Endured tragedy with her held head high. Yoga VHS tapes, green beans as snacks, more vitamins than a GNC, pasta hanging from the cabinets, Easter egg hunts at Nana E’s, watering the fake flowers for months. Thanks for all the love & laughs Grandma

A great and gracious lady, always beloved by Yankees universe. She and Whitey were a great couple. he was at Old Timers Day this past summer to a great ovation at Yankee Stadium, and like Cora Rizzuto, Merlyn Mantle, and Carmen Berra, always represented the organization with such dignity.
