Joan Ford, 92 years old of Lake Success, New York, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 26, 1931, in The Bronx, New York.
A lifelong New Yorker, Joan grew up in Astoria, where she met the love of her life, Edward “Whitey” Ford as a teenager. Joan and Whitey married in 1951 and enjoyed 69 years together as husband and wife. She was the matriarch of the family, perfecting a balance of raising three children while showing dedication and support to her husband who perfected his craft on the pitcher’s mound. Her life became an embodiment of love. Her kindness and generosity showed no bounds. Joan was immensely proud of her ever-growing family, and she leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

She is lovingly survived by her son, Edward Ford and his wife, Cathi Ford, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, her sister Margaret Bartels and brother-in-law Robert Bartels, and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward “Whitey” Ford, her children Thomas Ford, Sally Ann Clancy and son-in-law Stephen Clancy, her sister Sally Slattery, brother-in-law Thomas Slattery, her father Joseph Foran and her mother Margaret Foran.
