My deepest sympathies to Oleg and Valentina who were so blessed to have Mykola as a husband and father. He was joyful and always had a happy hello and wave to everyone he saw on his neighborhood strolls. He loved to say hello to all the pups and this small gesture endured him to so many people. His life was an example of how to embrace the beautiful and simple things in life. I’ll always remember him and his kindness.
He was always happy to see us come to cut and clean the Park Avenue Park across from his house. And when we left he had kind words and a thumbs up for us Park District Workers.

Mykola should be memorable to most of us in the neighborhood of Nassau Avenue and its surrounding area. He was the friendly man who waved a hello and a smile to anyone passing by whether walking or in a car. It brings sadness to my heart to see such a bright light of the community taken from us. May we remember him by accepting and offer a smile to all our neighbors as they pass by.
Hello Oleg. I want to extend my sincere condolences to you and your family. I pulled over to try and help him and stayed with him until police and the paramedics arrived, as did a physician that stopped to assist. I held his hand and told him he was not alone and more help was on the way. The next morning when I heard the tragic news I broke down. I’m so very sorry for your loss. He seemed like an amazing man!
