Obituary of Alicia Chamale Pedroza

Alicia Chamale Pedroza, 75, peacefully walked with her ancestors on June 28, 2024. Alicia was born on January 24, 1949 to Alejandro Chamale & Sofia Pedroza in Guatemala City.

The experience of losing both parents by the age of 4, gave Alicia the resilience, determination and tenacity she used through out her whole life, specifically in her dedication to being a devoted wife, supportive mother, and loving grandmother.

In 1988, Alicia along with her husband Juan Jose Flores (deceased) and children, left her homeland of Guatemala, in the pursuit of a better life for the family. They would settle in Port Washington, New York, where she would raise 4 children and 5 grandchildren.

With the help of her Catholic faith, Alicia accepted all of life’s challenges which included the early death of her husband and beloved sister.

Alicia loved gardening, dancing marimba but above all she loved cooking, feeding her traditional foods to those who were blessed to have shared a seat at her table, and experience her generosity. She will be honored, remembered as our Matriarch, and will never be forgotten by future generations. Our beloved Mamita and Abuelita will be greatly missed.
