Shackel, Walter J. on April 25, 2014 of Port Washington, NY. WWII US Army Veteran 86th Mountain Infantry. Retired New York City Teacher. Beloved husband of the late Anna M. Loving father of Stephen(Mary), Mark(Frances), Marianna, Patricia, Matthew(Linda) and James(Karen). Cherished grandfather of 11 and Great Grandfather of 11. Devoted brother of Olga, Paul and Matthew. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Fairchild Funeral Chapel, 1570 Northern Blvd., Manhasset on Sunday evening 7pm-9pm and Monday 3pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Manorhaven with interment to follow at Nassau Knolls Cemetery, Port Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our lady of Fatima Education Fund.
