A Teacher at St. Peter’s School for Thirty Six Years
Hanley, Maureen V. (nee O’Flaherty), passed away March 21st after courageously facing several years of illness. Devoted wife of Thomas (deceased), loving mother of Dorothy McGovern (Lawrence), Maureen Reedy (John), Ellen Whiteman (Brian), Thomas, Jr., and John (Jennifer). Enthusiastic grandmother to fifteen and caring sister to Patricia Brennan and John O’Flaherty. Formerly of Port Washington but resided in Breezy Point, New York, since retiring. Generously gave thirty-six years of her professional life to teaching at St. Peter of Alcantara School, Port Washington, a vocation about which she was truly passionate. Her life was marked by an infinite love for people, appreciation for God’s creation (“the beach”), remarkable and unyielding courage, a rich spiritual life, and an endless supply of gratitude.
